Wedding Preparations - Getting Organised
As soon as possible:
- Inform relatives / close friends that you are getting married
- If a church wedding arrange a meeting with your minister to agree a date and discuss wedding plans.
- If a civil Wedding book the venue or Register office.
- Decide on a budget for your wedding and and agree on who is paying for what.
- Select your chief bridesmaid, best man, ushers and attendants.
- Draw up a rough list of guests for the reception and any evening function.
- Visit reception venues before making a choice.
- Discuss menus with caterers / hotels and get written estimates for food and drink.
- Book reception and your reception entertainment; put all details in writing.
- Begin looking at Wedding dresses to give you an idea of price and availability.
- Book your photographer.
3 months to go:
- Order any Wedding stationery.
- Arrange a meeting at the church to discuss the order of service, music and reading of the banns.
- Choose a florist and discuss bouquets, church flowers, buttonholes and sprays.
- Order the Wedding cake.
- Organise your Wedding gift list.
- Arrange fittings for Wedding outfits.
- Choose your Wedding rings together.
- Plan your going away outfit.
- Book Wedding transport.
- Check passports / innoculations if you are honeymooning overseas.
- Book your first night / honeymoon.
Wedding Preparations 2 months to go
- Finalise the Order of Service for the ceremony and order printed sheets.
Post
invitations with Wedding gift list and directions to church / venue and
reception.- Check all prior bookings to make sure details are correct.
- Send out "Thank You" notes as gifts arrive.
- Purchase accessories, shoes, veil and presents for attendants.
- Groom, Best Man and Ushers need to organise their Wedding suits.
- Book hairdresser / make up appointments for morning of Wedding.
One Month Before your Wedding
- Make sure everyone in the Wedding party knows what they have to do and when.
- Inform banks etc. that you are changing your surname.
Wedding Preparations 2 weeks to go
- Draw up a seating plan for the reception. Finalise your Wedding Table Plan
- Confirm the number of guests with your reception venue.
- Pack early for the honeymoon.
- Try on the complete Wedding outfit.
- Arrange a rehearsal at the church or venue.
Wedding Preparations - 1 week to go:
Confirm all reception arrangements are in place.- Confirm flowers and deliveries.
- Confirm photographer with instructions of any "must have" photographs.
- Make sure the Groom, Father and Best Man are preparing their wedding day speeches.
Wedding Preparations - Day before:
- Help to decorate reception venue.
- Send luggage for honeymoon to reception venue.
- Arrange for Wedding cake to be delivered.
Wedding Preparations - On The Day:
- Make sure you give yourself plenty of time.
- Send someone to collect buttonholes / sprays from florist if they are not being delivered.
